The Monthly Newsletter of the North Texas Hang Gliding Association  2000

Wills Wing has issued a warning that is specific to the new smaller, blue paraswivel which Wills Wing started  distributing several years ago. They are designed quite differently than the larger silver swivel. The special kit and the inspection procedure which Wills Wing has sent out are for checking for the new smaller, blue swivel
which may have a manufacturing defect. The hole, for a set screw which locks
in the main bolt holding the swivel together, was found in some swivels not
to be threaded all the way through. In this rare circumstance, the swivel
can come apart if the chute rotates in a deployment.

I highly recommend checking all of your safety equipment every year, but
this particular problem should be checked immediately on all blue
paraswivels made by Wills Wing prior to March 10, 2000.

To the best of my knowledge, the silver paraswivels were not made nor
distributed by Wills Wing and the inspection procedure is entirely
different.

Incidently, Wills Wing does manufacture the blue paraswivels which High
Energy Sports provides as well.

So if it's blue, it may unscrew.
