7/13/2000 NTHGA Meeting Minutes
1. Meeting came to order at 7:45 P.M. at the Southwest Airlines Headquarters. 16 folks present
2. Visitors: 1. ( Charles Canney H2/P2 from California) 2. (Somer Walker, student of Jeff Hunt) 3. (David Roth : Dave Broyles student) 4. ( John Singlehorse, H2 with a Falcon.) Welcome to one and all !
3. Minutes from last meeting read and accepted. Treasure report $769 + $336 Regionals profit. We still owe Pete Hammer $600 for the shirts ( who missed the meeting for a date with a GIRL ! ;-) )
4. New Business:
a. Regionals this weekend as the rain date from June. b. Labor Day fly-in at Alamogordo. Ken, Peter, Tre going. c. Pilot Point tow site up for renewal. $500 per year. $60 for full membership; $30 for part time permit. Need the money at the next meeting. d. Grayson County Airport now reports acrobatics routinely over the active runway where hang gliders have been towing. This is a chapter of the EAA and seems to be long term. e. South Site has an East / West road open for about a mile as reported by Greg Chastain from his airplane.
5. Entertainment for the evening: a. USHGA new introduction film to show to public groups. 15 minutes b. Discussion of Thermaling techniques; lead by Greg Chastain addressing questions : 1. What is it ? 2. How do you know your in it? 3. What does it look like and how to explore it. 4. How do they change over time ? 5. Where do you find them ? 6. How and when do you leave one ? 7.
